Currently in Puerta Varras, in Southern Chile, at a hotel with crap wifi but great view overlooking Lake Osorno at Volcano Osorno. Spectacular view from hotel window. See pic later.
This morning we were at Valdivia, overlooking the river. After a meagre breakfast we went into Valdivia for a look around, full of local people going about their lives. As mentioned yesterday, Valdivia was the place of the largest ever recorded earthquake on May 22, 1960.
A leisurely drive down to Osorno for lunch, excellent lump of BBQ cow and red wine. Called into Puerta Varras (this place) and dropped bags at hotel before driving a further 30 min to drop car off at Puerta Montt airport and get a transfer back here.
Tomorrow, it is bus and boat tour to Argentina (San Carlos de Bariloche).
