Thought it better to ring Peugeot Europe roadside support number to ascertain what I had to do next wrt the car. As it turns out, replacing the wheel was OK but I had to have the punctured tyre repaired by an official Peugeot Dealership. I thought this is going to be fun as where we were seemed to be in a far tucked away corner of Norway with not much around. We pressed on with our 80kph emergency tyre hoping to get across the "Atlantic Road' and onto Molde, which we thought would be the largest town in the area. It would have been about 80K.
As it turns out, and quite by surprise, the town of Kristiansund (only about 40k) was a fairly large town and it had a Peugeot dealership. As it was Sunday, we found a place to stay for the night and we will get the tyre fixed on Monday morning. We were not planning on staying in Kritiansund, but it seems a nice town, very clean and picturesque.
This morning, we passed through Trondheim, which is one of Norway's better known places, again it was a nice looking clean town, with only a few drunks heading home about 9 am on Sunday morning. We had lunch at a nice little place called Valsoya, in honour of the Val's we know.
Here are today's selection of pics.
This is a pic I took a few days ago, but now Lightroom is working again, I cleaned it up and reposted.
More Barley (I am sure it is not wheat)
Trondheim Cathederal
A Trondheim doorway
A Trondheim Manhole cover (they are different in every town)
A black car
More camperhomes
A place called Valsoya
A pleasant Lunch
More Views along the road (more water)
On the Ferry, blissfully ignorant of the events of the next 30 mins after this.
The Emergency wheel fitted
More pics along the long and winding road.
another big bridge (plus another dozen tunnels today)
Kristiansund (fortuitous locale of Peugeot dealer)
More Kristiansund (including their manhole covers)
Lastly, I had largely thought of Norway as a fairly civilised, albeit expensive (did I already cover that) society. However I have now cause to doubt this assumption. Tonight, when shopping at the "Kiwi" supermarket, we were told it is against Norwegian regulations to sell beer on a Sunday. This puts the good deeds of all those Norwegian peacekeepers that go to all the trouble spots of the world back about 10 years. No beer on a Sunday - ridiculous.
We had pasta for dinner with our own homemade pasta sauce (sans beer)
