Beijing Continues - Art & Duck

This morning I went to the 798 Art District, where there are a lot of nice small galleries showing a range of new art work by various artists. However, all seem to have a strict rule of no photography inside the shops and galleries. It was a fairly large area so I did not cover it all. It had some nice knick knack shops and other arty hand made goods and jewellery.

I found my Lucky shop and a gallery for Joy.

After that I went to another market trying to buy some shorts to fit me, its getting hot here and I guess I have much hotter weather to come. Unfortunately, no one had my size.

Tonight I plan to seek some Peking Duck, I guess "while in Rome”,  better try the duck.

....... hours pass .........

As indicated earlier, I went out tonight to try Peking Duck. It was delicious, not cheap, but not as expensive as some of the other  Beijing Restaurants that specialise in Duck for the tourists. It cost about $40 including beers.
I have to say what a delight it is to be in a crowded Chinese restaurant, with cheap beers $3 for 500ml, there is lots of noise and laughter and food and everyone is smoking (despite  big sign saying NO Smoking, by the Beijing Patriotic Health Campaign Committee, in typical Chinese style, these are ignored by everyone. Harks back to the Good Ol days.

  1. No smoking only if you're patriotic. Maybe smoking is the new method of civil protest and disobedience!
