Lochmaddy (Nth Uist) to Stornaway (Lewis)

Today we moved further up the Outer Hebrides to the combined Island of Harris and Lewis (Harris in the South, Lewis in the North.

Here are a few pics taken on the way. It mostly rained today.

Near Ferry Crossing for Uist to Harris (Stone says something about Prince Charlie being Lord of all lands.

We were meant to visit a weaver called Duncan John McKay but we missed the turn off on the road. It either was not marked coming from the South or it wasn't there at all. There are not many turnoffs on the Roads in Uist so it was pretty hard to miss one, but miss it we did. After realising that we must have passed it way back, we did not turn around and go back.

Stornaway

Tomorrow is explore more of Lewis, probably the west side and then have Thursday morning free in Stornaway before leaving for Ullapool.

P.S WE are staying 2 nights at this B&B but it appears Internet will not work in the rooms. So Comms may be a bit slow next few days.

  1. We are a bit behind and missed your trip to Barra. I was going to get you to say hi to some of my relies, (we are part of McNeil clan). Perhaps next time.

  3. Hello Joy and Doug - loving seeing your pics. We were on Harris a couple of weeks ago and the weaver Mckay was not home. Joy - did you get my email about Stirling castle and catching up with those weavers - they want to have contact with you. Heather
