The first Iron framed building and bridge.

This area is one of the key birthplaces of the industrial revolution and to prove it, they have two unique structures.

The first is the Shrewsbury Flax Mill (not its proper name) which is the first building in the world to be constructed using an Iron Frame, something the Americans and others would copy to build skyscrapers.

The second (or should I say first) was an Iron Bridge, which was the first in the world. It was built about six years before the Flax Mill.

Todays pics include some more Shrewsbury and then some of the Flax Mill (including Morris Dancers) as it was an open day today and lastly some pics of the Iron Bridge, which is near Telford.

Morris Dancers (so english) we left before the hankies came out otherwise we would laugh too much.

Me being blissful sitting by the Severn river.

I was thinking about Ice Cream

Tomorrow, it is on the road again and off to Edinburgh. A full days drive.

  2. Morris dancers always have that effect on me! I have to turn away before I laugh to loud...
