The Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies and the Trossach Trail

This morning started as a drizzly grey morning in Edinburgh, we set off for Oban about midmorning and went past Falkirk on the way. Falkirk is renowned for at least two things, one is the Falkirk Wheel, which is a mechanism to replace many canal locks with a wheel which takes a canal boat in the water from one level to a canal water at a different level. In this case about 24 meters or 80 ft, upward or downward.  It must have replaced several conventional locks.

Of course I am happy

The Kelpies, are large statues of mythical horse like creatures which reported stole small children. They are about 10k away from the Wheel.
