Lost in Warsaw

Hi ho, Hi ho, its off to Poland we we go.

I am currently looking into a Blood red sunset in a place called Mazowiecka in Poland, enjoying a beer.

Not many photos today, we left Berlin reasonably early (8am) and headed to Warsaw, once across the border into Poland the road was an autobahn tollway and we could chew up the 400km to  Warsaw fairly easily sitting on the limit of 140kph. Most other cars ignored the speed limit and went faster. The Tolls on the road soon added up though, probably around A$35.

We got into Warsaw about 2 pm and had a drive by tour. Didn't seem like much at first and seemed to be missing the grand buildings  etc one would expect from an old european city. However when it came time to leave, our GPS in the car got bamboozled by the fact that Warsaw freeways have all changed  since sour GPS was released. Hence it kept taking is back to the same places where roads are now closed or no existent. The downside is that it took more than 1 1/2 hours to get out of Warsaw in the right track without deadens and the upside was we go to see a lot more of Warsaw whilst driving in circle, including some of the more charming older parts of the city as well as the more modern housing commission places.

Joy managed to get a few good snaps out of the car window every now and then and here are some of those, along with one of mine of a very nice ice cream shop (not the world's best -see previous discussion) in Warsaw.

For Rob Dubrowski, (if you are following this blog) all those rude swearwords and insults you taught me to say in Polish have worked a treat, I have tried some of the phrases on locals and they all love me for it. Are you sure you you didn't teach me to say "I am an idiot, pleases have all my money."

  1. Ahhh ... those bears on the road to Warsaw. They look more like sheep to me.

    1. You can never be certain in Poland, e.g. we saw a road sign that indicated Goats, yet it could have been cows. Polish rendition of animals can be tricky. But yes, they do resemble sheep more than bears.

  2. Beers and bears and beers - a recurring theme.

  3. Joy, I saw a pen in your hand. Does this mean that a Post Card is coming my way? GV
