Public transport - how sweet it can be

Today I am back on the road (rails actually), heading for Salzburg. I left Szombathely around 13:00 on a local train to a town called Gyor, to connect with the mainline between Budapest and Munich. The trains, called Railjets, wizz along at 230 kph in places, very quiet, nice buffet car and on board wi-fi. In fact, as I write this, we are doing  200 kph and are approaching the city of Linz, Austria.  Outside the wide panoramic windows I can faintly see Julie Andrews and the Von Trapp family skipping in the hilly meadows amongst the edelweiss and cows. No pictures yet, will download some later tonight from the camera. This update done from iPad and train wi-fi.

This is how public transport should be, fast, clean, cheap and plenty of trains and route options.

Time to have a beer from the buffet car.
