Day 5 Land of the Volcans and Valdivia

Hi All,

A long days drive today, not sure how many k's but a lot, like 600+. We left Chillan a bit late and meandered down the highway (Ruta 5) through Los Angeles, past Inspector Fernandez, Temuca and on to Villaricca, where the Villaricca Volcano sits just across the lake. This Volcano has been very active recently, unfortunately, there was no eruption happening today. Would have been great see close up.

After having a delicious dinner in Villaricca, we completed our trip and landed late in Valdivia. Lots of roadworks slowed travel times down a bit.

Tomorrow, it is look around Valdivia briefly and then more driving to get to Puerta Monnt. Looking forward to the trip, the scenery in this "Land of Volcans" is great.

P.s I just googled up Valdivia for some research for tomorrow and guess what pops up.

"The 1960 Valdivia earthquake or Great Chilean earthquake of Sunday, 22 May 1960 was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded, rating a 9.5 on the moment magnitude scale. It occurred in the afternoon, and lasted approximately 10 minutes."
