Tatio Geysers

This morning it was up at 4am to be  picked up by a bus taking me to the Tatio geyser fields at sunrise. Rather dumbly, I just put on two t shirts and when we got there, about 7am, just before dawn. It was freezing, reportedly -10 but more like -5. Fingers were getting a little blue. Any way the geyser fields were ordinary, none seem to be erupting at the moment. Just letting off lots of steam. Anyway they gave us coffee and it was back on the bus for a little ride to somewhere different. Oh, just prior to getting to the Tatio geyser fields at 4300 mtrs, the bus had to stop and let a few people have a spew because of the the altitude.

After breakfast it was heading back downhill (sort of). We say Llama, Red Flamingos, a small rabbit like creature that is close a rock wallaby and is green, another bird (black) and some other deer like creatures. At one stop on the way down , we could have BBQ Llama on a stick, it was nice, nearly lemon flavoured.

We got back about 12.30, tired and in need of a nap. I had a sleep for 30 min  and then went up the street to look around. It is a  real tourism town.

Probably little or no internet tomorrow night so possibly no post. Tomorrow we ride to Ollague (still in Chille) before crossing next day into Bolivia.
