Happy Thanksgiving from Canada

Today (Monday 13 Oct) is Thanksgiving Holiday in Canada, this was not something I was aware of until about 9am this morning. Subsequently, today was also a relaxed day as most things were closed today for the Holiday. Some of the tourist shops and cafe's were open, but generally it is fairly quiet. Although there are many tourists wandering the streets as there is a huge liner berthed at the port. It holds 2100 passengers and about 800 crew. I was told by an American tourist that about a quarter of the passengers were Australians. Is there anyone left at home? We see (or more correctly, hear) Australians everywhere we have been travelling.

I would also like to share a quote with everyone, a quote provided by our Dutch friend Arno.

"The real secret of staying healthy and happy is to keep the body moving and the mind at rest; that's what travel is all about"

By Vincent Voiture (24 February 1597 – 26 May 1648), A French poet, writer of prose and the son of a rich wine merchant of Amiens.

I think that about sums it up.

Here are todays Pics. P.s It was another glorious day today weather wise, expect changes in next few days.

Public Sculpture

Harvest display, probably a Thanksgiving thing.

Notice the hat, not the Pumpkin gut.

The big ship in town

Quebec City has two parts, High Quebec, which you can see in the background and Low Quebec, which is down on the waterfront. There is a Funicular railway linking the two.

I liked the Red in this building

Joy found another street art sculpture and she blended right in.

Be careful not to turn into this street.

  1. Hi Joy and Doug - after nearly a week without a computer (terminal hardware issue!!) it is good to catch up with all your exploits again - I have missed them. Thankyou for the photos of places I have seen and those I haven't - travelling vicariously is better than not at all!! - Chris xx
