Hot Tubs and Cold Showers

After another clear cold night, awoke to another perfectly clear and sunny day in Jackson Wy. Headed off about 9.30 am backtracking on the road north back into Yellowstone  but passing through the Grand Tetons national park on the way. I was keen to get photos of the peaks with easterly morning light on them.  After several photostops for the Grand Tetons, we re-entered Yellowstone and went to the West Thumb hot springs area, then continuing north to the Yellowstone Grand Canyon with some great waterfalls, we then headed west again (road north closed) across to Norris geothermal area and went to see the Steamboat Geyser, the worlds highest active geyser, erupting to about 90m in height, only problem is you never know when this is going to happen, it may be weeks, months or years between major eruptions. The last one was Sept 3 this year, so all we got to see was some piddling little spurts every now and again.  In addition to Pics, I have included a video of Old Faithful from yesterday that go dropped due to size restrictions and a video from the car of the Grand Tetons.

After Norris, we headed North on the other north road (which was open but under heavy roadworks) to Mammoth Hotsprings and onto Gardner at the Northern entrance to the park where we are staying the night. We will visit Mammoth and Tall falls tomorrow from Gardner. We saw some moose on the road (no bears or wolves) and saw Elk just as we were coming into Gardner. In fact, around dusk,  there was a Bambi wandering around outside out motel room door.

Arches made from Elk Antlers, there were 4 of these in Jackson at each corner of a park.

Just south of here we passed the 45th parallel , half way between equator and North Pole.
