Reykjavik Day 3

A slow start to the day because of late night last night, 9 am for Breakfast then little nap after breakfast. Followed by trip to the Laundromat, coffee, late lunch and then more coffee and cake.  Life is hard here. This afternoon we went up to the "perlan" or Pearl. A large dome (25 m high) on top of a hill overlooking Reykjavik. The Dome sits on geothermally heated large hot water tanks and at the top of the dome is an exclusive restaurant, where only the very rich go. We went the the cafe and observation deck a level below the restaurant.

Caught the bus back into town and noticed the Iceland Museum to the Phallus (Penis) for those not speaking latin.) A bit novel.

Tonight we are heading  back out to see if we can see the Northern Lights again, it will be another late night and an early start tomorrow as we are booked on an all day tour. I forgot to mention that last night we saw the John Lennon memorial Light tower,"Imagine Peace Tower" a beam of white light that shines into the night sky and sits on an island in Reykjavik harbour. We also heard Yoko is in town - coincidence, I think not. The light is meant to be on from Oct 9th, John's birthday, to Dec 8th, the day he died each year. But for some reason it was on last night, the 7th, maybe they were testing as it is officially to start Friday Night.

This one is for you  Julie

By the way, if  we do see the Northern lights tonight, do not expect any pics, I have a small tripod but it was pretty useless at the location we went last night and I expect the same tonight. A tripod is a must to Photograph the lights.  I will be happy just to see them.
